REPORT: Predicting whether Caleb Williams will become the Chicago Bears’ first 4,000-yard passer in the 2024 season involves several variables…

The Chicago Bears have a unique history in the NFL, being the only team never to have had a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards in a single season. However, there’s speculation that this could change with the arrival of former USC standout Caleb Williams.

On “The Carton Show,” Craig Carton expressed optimism about Williams’ potential to break this drought for the Bears in the upcoming season. Drawing comparisons to other quarterbacks like Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud, Carton suggested that Williams has the potential to be more akin to Stroud, who had a successful rookie season, rather than Young, who struggled.

The Bears have made significant upgrades to their offense, notably acquiring wide receiver Keenan Allen and signing tight end Gerald Everett and running back D’Andre Swift. They also drafted wide receiver Rome Odunze, adding to a lineup that already includes DJ Moore and Cole Kmet.

Former NFL receiver Plaxico Burress outlined what a successful rookie season might look like for Williams, citing statistics like 3,200-3,500 passing yards and 20 touchdowns.

While Erik Kramer currently holds the Bears’ single-season passing yardage record, and Jay Cutler is the franchise’s all-time passing leader, Williams arrives with an impressive college resume, including being a Heisman Trophy winner. In his 2022 season, Williams threw for over 4,500 yards and 42 touchdowns, showcasing his potential to thrive at the professional level.

Williams is set to debut for the Bears against the Tennessee Titans in September.
