JUST IN: Charlotte Hornets Appoints Former Bucks and Celtics NBA Champion Assistant as New Head Coach…

The Charlotte Hornets have appointed Charles Lee, currently an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics, as their new head coach.

Lee, who has agreed to a four-year deal, will stay with the Celtics until their playoff journey concludes. Prior to his stint with the Celtics, Lee served as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks under coach Mike Budenholzer, where he contributed to the team’s NBA championship win in 2021.

Lee’s NBA coaching career began with the Atlanta Hawks in 2014. The decision to hire Lee came after consideration of other candidates, including an ESPN analyst.

Steve Clifford, the former head coach of the Hornets, has transitioned to a front office role after the team’s disappointing 21-61 season.
