J.J. Watt hints at a potential comeback to the NFL, but only if the Houston Texans truly require his services. In a recent interview with the Houston Chronicle on May 4, the former Texans defensive end expressed his willingness to return to his former team if they faced dire circumstances.
Despite retiring from professional football in 2022 after a remarkable career spanning 12 seasons, Watt remains open to the possibility of donning the Texans jersey once more.
He emphasized his gratitude for his time in the league and his health upon retirement, stating that he had informed Texans coach DeMeco Ryans not to contact him unless absolutely necessary.
Watt, who now works as a broadcaster for CBS Sports’ The NFL Today, clarified that he won’t actively seek to return after the upcoming season, signaling a potential end to his readiness to play.

However, he reiterated his commitment to helping the team if truly needed. Nevertheless, Watt acknowledged the unlikelihood of such a scenario, acknowledging the talent within the Texans’ current roster.
Throughout his career, Watt has solidified his status as one of the premier defensive linemen in NFL history, a testament to his achievements since being drafted by the Texans in 2011, where he still holds records for sacks and forced fumbles.
