Breaking Neews: CW and Fox Networks Drops a ‘Fascianting Update’ Regarding WSU and OSU Football Games…

WSU and OSU Football Games to Air on CW and Fox…

According to a report by John Canzano, Washington State University (WSU) and Oregon State University (OSU) will have their home football games broadcasted on the CW and Fox networks this fall. While the CW was previously confirmed as the broadcaster, the addition of Fox is a new development.

The CW will cover 10 out of the 13 combined home games for WSU and OSU, with the remaining three scheduled for Fox. Notable matchups include the Civil War game between OSU and Oregon on September 14, which will be aired on Fox, and the WSU vs. Texas Tech game on September 7, also to be broadcasted by Fox. Additionally, Fox will broadcast the Pac-12 football matchup between the Cougars and Beavers on November 23 at Reser Stadium.

The announcement is expected to be made sometime this month, with 11 out of the 13 kickoff times already determined. This advance scheduling is welcomed by fans, who no longer have to wait until the last minute to know when games will start, ensuring more daylight football opportunities.

The production of these games will still be managed by the Pac-12 Network, but the shift to CW and Fox means wider accessibility, with the CW available in 99.5% of households. This change impacts games in Pullman and Corvallis specifically, while road games against Mountain West teams will be carried by CBS and Fox sports networks.

However, there’s uncertainty regarding the broadcasting channel for the Apple Cup on September 14, as it is not a designated home game for either team. The focus throughout this decision-making process has been on maximizing exposure rather than revenue, according to WSU President Kirk Schulz and OSU Athletic Director Scott Barnes.

The CW, known for its past popular shows like One Tree Hill and Smallville, has recently expanded into sports broadcasting, airing select ACC football and basketball games, as well as NASCAR and LIV Golf events. Owned by Nextstar Media Group, the CW’s move into sports aligns with its broader programming portfolio, which includes various cooking and food networks.
