Patrick Kane Sends a Bold Message to the Fans Amid his Future as Red Wings’ Coach and 2 Others Join Team USA at International Stage…

Detroit Red Wings’ Lalonde Named Assistant Coach for World Championship…

When the IIHF world championship kicks off in Prague, Team USA’s coaching staff will feature a familiar face to Detroit Red Wings players Dylan Larkin and Alex Lyon. Head coach Derek Lalonde of the Red Wings will join the coaching lineup for the tournament, as announced by USA Hockey.

Lalonde will serve as an assistant coach alongside Jack Capuano of the Ottawa Senators, Ty Hennes of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Greg Moore, working under head coach John Hynes. Additionally, Alex Westlund from the Red Wings will be the goaltending coach, while Mike King from the Senators will handle video coaching duties.

This isn’t Lalonde’s first stint with Team USA; he previously coached at the world championship last year and has been involved with the U.S. Junior Select Team in the World Junior A Challenge, winning championships in 2012 and 2013.

Despite uncertainties about his availability due to Detroit’s playoff push, Lalonde expressed his commitment to USA Hockey, emphasizing his willingness to contribute to the tournament if needed.

Both Larkin and Lyon have been named to the USA squad for the championship, marking Larkin’s sixth appearance and Lyon’s return since his participation in the 2015 tournament.

In a separate development, Patrick Kane’s recent message to Red Wings fans has sparked speculation about his future with the team. While his note expresses gratitude and hints at a possible continuation with the Red Wings, uncertainties remain regarding his contract status and the team’s long-term plans for him.
