Breaking News: Minnesota Vikings have Selected 17th Overall Alabama’s Top Edge Rusher in NFL Draft…

Alabama’s Dallas Turner was selected 17th overall in the NFL Draft’s first round by the Minnesota Vikings, who secured the top edge rusher in the draft class.

Expected to be chosen between the 8th and 12th picks, Turner slipped down the draft board due to a surge in offensive player selections in the top ten, ultimately benefiting the Minnesota Vikings.

Standing at 6’3” and weighing 250 lbs, Turner boasts impressive speed with a 4.46 forty-yard dash. He becomes the second edge rusher to be drafted and joins a respected program in Minnesota. Turner will now have the opportunity to challenge Caleb Williams, the #1 overall pick, within the NFC North division.

During his tenure as a starter for Alabama, Turner showcased his versatility, accumulating 22.5 sacks over two and a half years. He frequently lined up as an edge rusher but also demonstrated the ability to drop into coverage and play off-ball when necessary.

Nick Saban, commenting during the ABC broadcast, emphasized Turner’s versatility, likening him to Donta Hightower rather than his predecessor, Will Anderson.

Wishing Dallas the best of luck as he heads north, and Roll Tide!
