Richard O’Kelly has rejoined Walsall as an associate director, the club has confirmed. The 67-year-old, who had previously played for the club and served as Dean Smith’s assistant manager in 2012, has returned to offer his experience.

O’Kelly has had coaching stints with Smith at Brentford and Aston Villa before returning to Walsall to assist head coach Mat Sadler last season.

Co-chairman Ben Boycott expressed his satisfaction with O’Kelly’s appointment, emphasizing his deep connection to the club and valuable football expertise. Boycott sees O’Kelly’s role as providing valuable insight and wisdom to decision-makers within the club.

While the club’s decision-making structure remains unchanged, Boycott and other executive directors are eager to benefit from O’Kelly’s guidance.
