While the NFL might not approve of the Bears revealing their draft plans beforehand, the signs are pointing towards Caleb Williams donning the Bears’ jersey. Commissioner Roger Goodell might prolong the announcement, but eventually, it appears likely that Williams will be associated with the Bears, to the anticipation of fans worldwide.
Recent events support this speculation. Williams had a dinner meeting with key figures from the Bears organization and some players on April 2. Following that, he completed his top 30 visit at Halas Hall. Ian Rapoport’s tweets suggest that this visit to Chicago might be his sole top 30 visit, indicating a strong interest on his part.
In a statement on Path to the Draft, Rapoport emphasized that Caleb Williams appears keen on the idea of joining the Bears, despite contrary rumors and speculations. Williams himself has expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of playing in Chicago, dispelling rumors about his allegiance to his hometown team, the Commanders.
Williams’ own words reinforce this notion. In an interview with ESPN before the combine, he expressed excitement about the possibility of being drafted by the Bears. This sentiment was echoed during his combine press conference where he described the prospect of joining Chicago as “exciting.”
Rapoport further underlines that the Bears seem to be zeroing in on Caleb Williams as their preferred choice. Although no official announcement has been made, the indications strongly suggest a mutual interest. With just one top 30 visit, it seems Williams’ draft plans are settling with the Bears.
