Portsmouth FC Finally Makes Decision Regarding Forgotten Portsmouth Defender After Releasing 11 Academy youngsters…

Decision Reached Regarding Overlooked Portsmouth Defender Amid Announcement of 11 Academy Players Set to be Released…

Despite joining Portsmouth from Bromley in 2021, the defender Liam Vincent has yet to make an appearance in any competitive matches for the team.

The presence of Liam Vincent, the somewhat forgotten defender for Portsmouth, will continue to be absent from Fratton Park.

Vincent, who plays as a left-back, has been granted permission to extend his loan spell at Tonbridge Angels, a club in the National League South, until the conclusion of the current season.

Since arriving in January, the 20-year-old has impressed at the Longmead Stadium, featuring in 10 matches under the management of Jay Saunders.

Notably, he has showcased his versatility by playing in various positions, prompting the non-league club to request an extension of his loan, a request which Portsmouth has approved without hesitation.

However, this decision effectively confirms that Liam Vincent will not have the opportunity to play for Portsmouth’s senior team before his contract expires this summer.

Additionally, it provides insight into where Vincent stands in the plans of John Mousinho, particularly as Portsmouth enters the final stretch of the season with 12 senior players currently sidelined due to injuries.

Among those injured is Connor Ogilvie, the first-choice left-back, who is expected to be out until early April due to a knee injury. Furthermore, for their recent victory against Burton, Portsmouth adopted a three-at-the-back formation due to Jack Sparkes’ unavailability.

Given these circumstances, it appears highly improbable that Vincent will remain at Fratton Park beyond the current season. Earlier this week, The News disclosed that Portsmouth intends to release 11 members of its youth squad at the season’s end.

Notably, Vincent was initially signed by the club during Danny Cowley’s tenure, with the aspiration of integrating him into Portsmouth’s future plans.

At the time of his signing, Cowley emphasized that Portsmouth had triumphed over competition from Premier League and Championship clubs to secure the services of the then 18-year-old.
