A former standout in the English Football League (EFL) praises Portsmouth’s board for their decision to appoint John Mousinho as manager last year, acknowledging it as a bold but ultimately astute move.
Mousinho, relatively inexperienced in management, took the helm at Portsmouth in January of the previous year, having previously served in coaching roles at Oxford United.
Despite his novice status, he steered the team to an eighth-place finish in League One, highlighted by an impressive eleven-game unbeaten streak to conclude the 2022/23 season.
Under Mousinho’s guidance, Portsmouth currently leads the League One standings and is poised for automatic promotion to the Championship.
Adrian Clarke, a former EFL player, emphasizes Mousinho’s role in molding a resilient team capable of securing narrow victories.
