John Mousinho commended his makeshift Pompey squad for their performance, which propelled them closer to promotion with a significant 1-0 win at Peterborough’s London Road stadium. This victory widened the gap between Portsmouth and third-placed Bolton by nine points, with only seven games remaining in the season.
The team faced setbacks as illness sidelined Joe Rafferty and Paddy Lane, both of whom were slated to start the match. Additionally, Christian Saydee’s first-half hamstring injury further complicated matters, adding to a season already marred by unprecedented injuries at Fratton Park.
