Breaking: New England Patriots Set to Acquire Tyron Smith From Jets …

The New England Patriots are still searching for a new left tackle, either through free agency or the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. However, their options have dwindled as a division rival, the New York Jets, made a significant acquisition.

Tyron Smith, a standout left tackle and a 13-season veteran with the Dallas Cowboys, has signed with the Jets in free agency. Smith, who is returning from an Achilles injury, is considered one of the premier players at his position. His addition to the Jets’ roster provides a solid protection for their quarterback, former NFL MVP and Super Bowl XLV champion Aaron Rodgers.

Meanwhile, the Patriots have re-signed Mike Onwenu to a three-year deal. Onwenu is expected to play right tackle after performing well in that position in 2023. However, the Patriots still have a major need at left tackle and must act quickly to address it, either in free agency or by adjusting their draft priorities.
