Breaking: Baltimore Ravens’ GM Makes a ‘Shocking Statement’ as Ravens Breaks ‘Record’ with Justin Madubuike’s Historic $98 Million Extension…

The Baltimore Ravens have successfully secured a historic four-year contract extension with defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, as officially announced by the team on Friday. According to reports from ESPN, the deal sets a new record in the NFL, totaling $98 million, with an impressive $75.5 million guaranteed.

At the time of signing, Madubuike is set to receive $53.5 million, marking both the highest amount and guarantees ever for his position in the league. His average annual salary of $24.5 million ranks second only to Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams, who earns $31.6 million annually.

Expressing confidence in Madubuike’s skills, Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta stated, “Justin is one of the premier defensive tackles in the entire NFL and a cornerstone on our defense. This marks an excellent kickoff to the new league year.”

Madubuike showcased his prowess in the 2023 season by starting all 17 games for the Ravens, achieving a career-high 13 sacks, along with 38 solo tackles and 33 quarterback hits. This stellar performance earned him selections to both the Pro Bowl and the Second-team All-Pro, a first for him since entering the league in 2020.

Earlier in the week, the Ravens utilized the franchise tag on Madubuike to prevent him from entering free agency. This move, with a tag valued at $22 million, initially exceeded the team’s salary cap by $10 million. However, with the successful contract extension, the Ravens now find themselves with approximately $10 million in cap space to pursue free agents.

Looking ahead, the team is actively seeking a top-tier running back, improvements in the offensive line, and reinforcements for the pass rush. Despite a commendable 13-4 record last season and securing the AFC North championship, the Ravens fell short in the playoffs, losing 17-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
