Breaking: Twins’ Roster Battles is Over as Opening Day is Fixed…

With three weeks of spring training remaining, the Minnesota Twins’ roster battles seem mostly settled, barring injuries. The team’s Opening Day roster seems set, with depth available for later needs.

Austin Martin, despite not expected to make the initial 26-man roster following the Manuel Margot trade, will likely be used as injury cover in various positions.

The Twins are approaching the midway point of spring training with little apparent competition for roster spots among position players. The addition of Manuel Margot solidified the roster, leaving about 13 players as locks, including catchers Ryan Jeffers and Christian Vázquez, infielders Carlos Correa, Royce Lewis, Edouard Julien, Carlos Santana, Alex Kirilloff, Kyle Farmer, outfielders Byron Buxton, Max Kepler, Matt Wallner, Margot, and utility man Willi Castro.

Players like Jose Miranda, Brooks Lee, Austin Martin, and Trevor Larnach are just an injury away from potential spots on the Opening Day roster, with Martin being particularly affected by Margot’s addition.

The team has depth and flexibility, with options at most positions. Health remains a wildcard, but players like Jair Camargo, Jose Miranda, and Brooks Lee provide depth and versatility.

On the pitching side, Anthony DeSclafani and Louie Varland are competing for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, with DeSclafani’s availability affected by elbow soreness. In the bullpen, there are six relievers presumed locks, with Steven Okert’s lack of minor league options a factor in the roster decision.

Overall, while there are still several weeks of spring training left, the Twins’ roster looks largely settled, with only a few spots up for grabs.
