Gators’ 2024 Offensive Line Preview
The Florida Gators experienced significant changes in their roster during the offseason, with numerous players leaving via transfers, NFL Draft entries, or graduation. As spring training camp approaches, All Gators is analyzing each position group, assessing their performance in 2023, and forecasting their lineup for the upcoming 2024 season.
After reviewing the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end units, attention now turns to Florida’s offensive line.
Reflecting on the 2023 season, Florida faced the challenge of replacing four out of five offensive line starters. Despite hopes of quick cohesion during summer and fall camps, injuries and roster adjustments posed obstacles. The absence of veteran center Kingsley Eguakun, due to injury, significantly impacted the unit’s performance.
The offensive line, which had been a strength in previous seasons, struggled both in run blocking and pass protection. This decline was evident in statistics, with the rushing offense dropping in national rankings and quarterback sacks increasing substantially.
Following a disappointing 5-7 season, marked by poor performances and player departures, the Gators face another rebuilding phase under Coach Billy Napier.
Key departures include players like Kingsley Eguakun, Micah Mazzccua, and Richie Leonard IV, while new additions such as Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson and Devon Manuel bring hope for improvement.
