DJ Moore recently voiced his sentiments regarding the Chicago Bears’ quarterback situation, shedding light on his preferences for the upcoming season.
As speculation grows about the Bears potentially drafting Caleb Williams, Moore has consistently shown unwavering support for Justin Fields, the team’s current quarterback. Even as he expressed his desire for Fields to continue leading the team, Moore emphasized his understanding that such decisions are beyond his control.
During an interview with the Sun-Times on Thursday, Moore, who was present in Las Vegas for Super Bowl week, conveyed his advocacy for Fields while maintaining a pragmatic outlook on the situation. He acknowledged the unpredictable nature of team decisions and asserted that his primary focus is on delivering his best performance, regardless of the quarterback.
“I advocated for [Fields], and to see it come through would be amazing,” remarked Moore. “But if it doesn’t, I’ll still be happy. I don’t get paid to make that decision. I just go out there and make as many plays as I can for the quarterback that’s back there, as I’ve shown this year. But it’d be nice to see Justin stay.”
Fields, who played a pivotal role in Moore’s career-best season, became the catalyst for the wide receiver’s impressive achievements in various statistical categories. Moore achieved personal highs in receptions (96), receiving yards (1,364), receiving touchdowns (8), and catch percentage (70.6%) during the season. “His growth has been phenomenal,” Moore affirmed. “If you look at the games where he came back off of injury, he’s been everything you could ask out of a quarterback. Puts us in a position to win, getting the ball to his playmakers, and if he’s gotta do it himself, he does it himself and takes it like 50, 60 yards and does his thing. That’s all you can ask, is just steady growth, and that’s what he did.”
