Two-way Point Guard has Issued a Shocking Statement Amid the The Rising Hidden Gem of the Denver Nuggets…

Nuggets’ Collin Gillespie is demonstrating his status as a hidden gem in the basketball world. The two-way point guard has had an impressive season with the Grand Rapids Gold, the G League affiliate team of the Denver Nuggets. Overcoming a left leg fracture from the previous season, Gillespie’s resilience impressed the Nuggets, who supported him through his recovery.

Gillespie made his return to professional basketball during Denver’s opening night victory over the Lakers, marking his first appearance since the 2022 NBA Summer League. His debut with Grand Rapids in December showcased his skills, earning him the G League Player of the Month. Across six games, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged remarkable stats of 21.7 points, 11.8 assists, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals, leading the Gold to a 4-2 record.

Notably, Gillespie’s rebounding prowess stands out, considering his modest size. In just 10 games with Grand Rapids, he has become one of the top 20 rebounders among all players and positions in the G League, solidifying his status as a superstar.

For the entire season, Gillespie has consistently delivered impressive numbers, averaging 20.9 points, 11.0 assists, and 9.0 rebounds. His near-triple-double performance on Jan. 24 against the Raptors 905, where he scored 36 points, dished out 12 assists, and grabbed 11 boards, showcased his all-around skills. With 1.8 steals per game, he also demonstrates defensive prowess honed during his college career.

As the Nuggets approach the All-Star break, Gillespie’s versatile abilities may be crucial, especially as starters preserve themselves for a title defense. There’s a possibility he could secure a spot on Denver’s postseason roster, given his standout G League campaign.

While Gillespie has seen limited playing time in garbage minutes for the Nuggets this season, his notable four-game stretch in November, where he averaged five points and one steal in double-digit minutes, suggests his potential impact. His inclusion in the G League Up Next Game at All-Star Weekend is a recognition of his skills, though he was not selected for the Rising Stars game, disappointing Nuggets fans.

Gillespie’s maturity has been evident in the NBA, as he shares insights into his mentality on the court and in clutch situations. Having learned from NBA great Nikola Jokic, Gillespie appreciates Jokic’s leadership and guidance. With the support of the two-time MVP and other Nuggets veterans, Gillespie looks forward to further growth and experience in the league.
