AWESOME: Former Rams Quarterback Retires and Enters Coaching…

Former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Sean Mannion is formally retiring from the NFL after nine professional seasons, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson. In the process, Mannion is giving up his cleats for a headset in order to advance in his football career by joining the coaching staff of the Green Bay Packers. Although his precise role is unknown, Mannion will apparently work with the Packers’ quarterbacks and passing game. Henderson posted on X, saying, “I’ve heard from multiple people over the last few years who believed Mannion was destined to coach due of his brilliance and understanding of the game.” “He finished the season on the Seahawks practice squad, so he’ll get that start in Green Bay.”

In his four years with the team, he made only ten appearances and started just one regular season game. Mannion has alternated between the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks since departing Los Angeles in 2019, playing three different stints with each club despite never appearing in a regular season game for the latter.

He most recently spent the last month of the 2023 season as a member of the Seahawks practice squad. Having completed four years of college with 13,600 yards of passing, Mannion, 31, also holds the record for most passing yards at Oregon State.
