Breaking: Green Bay Packers Welcome Former Boston College Head Coach as Defensive Coordinator…

The Green Bay Packers announced the appointment of Jeff Hafley as their defensive coordinator, having previously served as the head coach at Boston College.

Hafley, aged 44, brings a wealth of experience, having worked as a defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers before transitioning back to the college level.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur expressed excitement about Hafley’s hiring, highlighting his success in developing players throughout his coaching career. Hafley’s notable achievements include his role as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Ohio State in 2019, contributing to the team’s impressive defensive performance.

During his tenure at Boston College, Hafley achieved a 22-26 record in four seasons, with a notable 7-6 record in 2023, including a victory against No. 22 SMU in the Fenway Bowl. Despite his positive experiences at Boston College, Hafley expressed gratitude for the opportunity but acknowledged the appeal of joining the Packers and the Green Bay community. His departure marks the end of an era at Boston College, where he appreciated the caliber of student-athletes, facilities, and support from the university and fans.

Hafley, who initially coached at the college level from 2001 to 2011, now takes on the role of defensive coordinator for the Packers, succeeding Joe Barry. This move marks the third different defensive coordinator under LaFleur’s leadership as he enters his sixth season as the Packers’ head coach.
