NFL Lengen Gave Amazing Reasons Why The Rams Should Be the Ideal Destination for a Jets Quarterback

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, nearing the age of 36 and contending with injuries in recent seasons, has prompted speculation about the team seeking another signal-caller in the upcoming offseason. While the role of this potential quarterback—whether as Stafford’s backup, successor, or both—remains uncertain, Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young suggests that the Rams could serve as an ideal environment for New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson to rejuvenate his career. Speaking on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Young advocates for Wilson to join the Rams under the guidance of coach Sean McVay, following Stafford’s lead and absorbing the magic of the team’s dynamic play.

Selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Wilson, despite evident talent, has faced challenges and setbacks during his tenure with the Jets. Completing only 57 percent of his passes for 6,293 yards, with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions over three seasons, Wilson has struggled, experiencing multiple benchings. Despite these difficulties, Young, also a BYU product like Wilson, believes that the quarterback can achieve success in the NFL with the right support.

Young emphasizes the need for Wilson to be in a quarterback-friendly environment with innovative coaching minds taking advantage of rule changes. Proposing that Wilson observes and learns from such a setting, Young sees the potential for the young quarterback to blossom into one of the best in the league. Interestingly, Young’s suggestion aligns with the Jets’ initial plan for Wilson to serve as a backup and learn from veteran Aaron Rodgers. However, this plan was disrupted when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles just four plays into his Jets career.

The Rams, under McVay, have a track record of revitalizing quarterbacks. In a recent example, they claimed Baker Mayfield off waivers late last season, providing him with an opportunity to showcase his skills. Mayfield then leveraged this chance to secure a starting role with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he enjoyed a career-best performance this season.
