Fantastic action! Pitchers Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer of the Rangers are hoping to return by midseason…

By the middle of the 2024 season, the Texas Rangers, the defending World Series champions, might have two aces in the hole. Max Scherzer and pitcher Jacob deGrom are reportedly planning to return to the mound in the middle of summer.

Cy Young winner DeGrom is recuperating from elbow surgery, while Scherzer is rehabilitating from surgery in December to fix a ruptured disk in his lower back.

During the Rangers’ yearly FanFest, both pitchers spoke about when they expect to return to the starting lineup for Texas.

According to ESPN, deGrom stated, “When we go back here, hopefully around the trade deadline, it’s like scooping up a couple guys.”
“We won the World Series, so everything’s wonderful,” Scherzer declared. You must maintain an optimistic outlook on this.”
A vital member of the Rangers’ rotation in the latter part of the season, the 39-year-old was acquired from the New York Mets around the 2023 trade deadline. Due to a strained shoulder muscle, Scherzer missed the last two weeks of the regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs. Despite this, he finished 4-2 with a 3.20 ERA in eight starts.
After making two starts in the ALCS, he was allowed to return, but in Game 3 of the World Series, he was limited to three innings due to a recurrence of his shoulder ailment. Three-time Cy Young winner Scherzer had surgery on December 15.

The Texas rotation was augmented by Scherzer after deGrom signed a five-year, $185 million contract this past offseason. He was shut down after just 30⅓ innings and six starts for Texas due to an elbow ailment. DeGrom recorded a 2-0 record, 45 strikeouts, and a 2.67 ERA.
The 35-year-old stated that he intends to start throwing in the spring but that he must first finish a plyometric training regimen. Scherzer reported that he is making good progress toward his recovery and that he had no problems during the six weeks following the procedure.
