Georgia Bulldogs Secure 3 Key Transfers to Strengthen Roster After Losing 20 Players to Transfer Portal…

The top gains for Georgia in the transfer portal have been evaluated by FanSided college football writer Josh Yourish. Despite losing 20 players to the transfer portal, Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs, with an impressive 42-2 record over the past three seasons, have managed to enhance their already dominant roster through a notable transfer portal recruitment.

Adding six players to the team, Georgia’s transfer portal class is ranked No. 31 in the nation by 247 Sports. When combined with the top-ranked high school class, the Bulldogs’ overall roster appears promising.

Facing the departure of key players like Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey to the NFL, Georgia aimed to bolster its offensive lineup around quarterback Carsen Beck.

The team successfully acquired impact players by recruiting from two SEC competitors. The additions include three wide receivers, one running back, a defensive lineman, and a safety, with three players expected to have the most significant impact in the upcoming 2024 season.

Despite Georgia’s offensive prowess, which ranked fourth in yards per play and fifth in total offense, the team lacked a dominant, NFL-caliber running back. With Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton heading to the NFL, Kirby Smart sought to provide his offense with a playmaker in the backfield.

The Bulldogs secured the services of Etienne, a running back who showed promise at Florida with an average of 5.7 yards per carry as a sophomore. Etienne’s versatility includes not only rushing but also effective pass-catching, making him a valuable addition to Georgia’s offensive arsenal.

Among the notable wide receiver additions is London Humphreys, a sophomore with three years of eligibility, who made an impact at Vanderbilt with 22 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite some concerns about his physicality, Humphreys’ ability to make plays after the catch and his overall performance as a freshman in the SEC positions him as a crucial part of Georgia’s passing game.

Colbie Young, a senior with one year of eligibility, has been brought in to fill the void left by Brock Bowers in the passing game. Standing at 6-foot-5, Young, who previously played for Miami, possesses the size and skills to contribute as an oversized receiver.

With improved quarterback play, Young is expected to be a reliable chain mover for the Bulldogs, showcasing proficiency in contested catches and a potential increase in production in the upcoming season.
