Hampered by an injury, Vikings Rising Star Has a Successful Surgery…

Following a strong rookie campaign, linebacker Brian Asamoah II of the Minnesota Vikings was regarded as a breakout potential prior to the 2023 season.

However, as training camp’s dog days went on, undrafted rookie Ivan Pace Jr. replaced Asamoah. Although Pace deserves praise for being among the best rookie defenders this year, Asamoah’s loss of a position to an undrafted rookie was another blow to the 2022 draft class.

But Asamoah’s second season was hindered by a shoulder issue that he was battling with as early as training camp, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP.

Asamoah revealed on social media that his operation on January 17 went well. He wrote on X (previously Twitter) that he was “can’t wait to assault this rehab and get back to work.”

In an interview with SKOR North’s “Mackey and Judd” podcast on January 18, Wolfson stated, “He was on the injury report with a shoulder issue going back to training camp.” According to what I understand, he struggled with something all year long. We now understand why that year was so challenging. He was injured young and never fully recovered. Thus, the purpose of this week’s surgery was to address the issue that arose during training camp.
