Report: Chicago Bears Trade Justin Fields In Crazy 3-Team Deal Proposal

The Chicago Bears are stirring up speculation about a potential shift from quarterback Justin Fields to USC prospect Caleb Williams as their new starting QB. Holding the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, the Bears appear reluctant to trade away the coveted spot for the second consecutive year. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of a significant pre-draft trade.

In a bold three-way trade proposal, Falcons writer Scott Carasik envisions a scenario involving the Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals. The Bears would receive a second-round pick (no. 49 overall) from Cincinnati and a third-round pick in 2025 from either Cincinnati or Atlanta, depending on whose pick is lower. The Bengals would exchange their no. 18 first-round pick in this year’s draft for the Falcons’ No. 8 pick. Meanwhile, the Falcons would acquire Fields from the Bears and the Bengals’ first-round pick.

Carasik sees this trade as a win-win-win situation, providing Chicago with additional draft capital over the next two years. The Bengals benefit from moving up to secure a higher-quality draft selection, while the Falcons acquire Fields without surrendering a first-round pick.

Despite skepticism from fans and some media regarding Fields’ trade value, Carasik argues that a first-round pick for Fields is unlikely. Unnamed NFL evaluators in an ESPN piece align with this view, suggesting Fields might fetch a second- or third-round pick in a pre-draft trade.

The financial aspect also comes into play, as Fields’ fifth-year option could make him an expensive player if not deliver top-tier performance. This raises the question of whether the Bears would consider trading Fields for a pair of second-day draft picks. However, the possibility of retaining Fields as a solid backup to Williams is also pondered, especially for Fields’ upcoming fourth NFL season.

With various trade proposals circulating online and teams exploring Fields’ asking price, the Bears’ front office faces crucial decisions regarding the future of their quarterback position. The talented yet occasionally inconsistent three-year veteran, selected 11th overall in the 2021 draft, remains a focal point of trade discussions.
