NY Jets Eyeing Offensive Line Upgrade: Potential Move for Pro Bowl Tackle Terron Armstead Amid Dolphins’ Cap Woes…

The NY Jets are well aware of their offensive line struggles and the urgent need for better replacements, particularly at left tackle where Mekhi Becton may not be the ideal choice. An opportunity may arise from the Miami Dolphins, facing financial challenges and a future quarterback extension, potentially leading to the release of key players. The Dolphins, projected to be $51 million over the salary cap, may consider parting ways with players like Xavien Howard to save money, creating an opportunity for the Jets.

One player of interest is left tackle Terron Armstead, who, if designated as a post-June 1 cut, could save the Dolphins around $9 million in cap space. Despite injury concerns, the Jets should consider pursuing the five-time Pro Bowler, especially with the weak tackle class in the upcoming draft. Armstead, though having missed games due to injuries, remains one of the best linemen when healthy, justifying his recent Pro Bowl nods. The Jets could opt to trade down for more draft picks or select the best available wide receiver instead of focusing on the draft’s tackle options.

While Armstead could potentially contribute to Miami’s efforts to protect Tua Tagovailoa, if he becomes available, it would be a missed opportunity for the Jets not to explore the possibility of acquiring him.
