Tennessee Titans Set to Appoint Bengals Offensive Coordinator as Head Coach…

The Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement to appoint Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, as their new head coach, according to an anonymous source familiar with the decision, as reported by The Associated Press on Monday.

The deal, which had not been finalized at the time of the report, will see Callahan taking over from Mike Vrabel, who was dismissed on January 9 after six seasons with the team. The 39-year-old Callahan, who had a virtual interview with the Titans on January 12, emerged as the chosen candidate after an in-person interview on Monday, making him the third head coach hired in the month of January.

In the NFL’s recent policy change, in-person interviews of current league employees were allowed starting Monday, following the divisional playoff round. Callahan, with 14 years of NFL experience, has been the Bengals’ offensive coordinator since 2019 and played a crucial role in the development of quarterback Joe Burrow.

His new role with the Titans provides an opportunity to work with quarterback Will Levis, selected as the 33rd overall pick in last April’s draft. Callahan, the son of former Raiders coach Bill Callahan, has been a sought-after candidate in head coaching searches, having interviewed with multiple teams last year before deciding to stay in Cincinnati. He also interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this month.
