‘Many Challenges and Blockades’ – Bears Lament as they Face Hurdles in the Quest for an Offensive Coordinator…

Bears Encounter Opposition in OC Search….

The Bears’ pursuit of a new offensive coordinator is not proceeding without obstacles. Various challenges have emerged as they navigate through the interview process for coaching candidates.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, potential contenders for the Raiders’ offensive coordinator position, namely Shane Waldron and Kliff Kingsbury, have been interviewed by the Bears. This indicates that both Waldron and Kingsbury are being considered for roles beyond just the Bears’ OC spot, introducing competition for their services.

The recent appointment of Antonio Pierce as the Raiders’ head coach further complicates matters for the Bears, as they no longer have a head coach vacancy to exploit in their pursuit of offensive coordinators.

Breer also mentioned Luke Getsy, a former Bears offensive coordinator, as someone of interest for the position, raising questions about the potential integration of Getsy’s offensive system with quarterback Justin Fields, should the Raiders pursue a trade.

Another form of interference faced by teams in the coaching search is opposition from other teams blocking access to coaches. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Bears’ request to interview Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was denied by the Chargers.

Speculation suggests that this block may be linked to the Chargers’ ongoing search for a head coach, as Moore was previously interviewed for the vacant position.

Despite Moore’s successful track record as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, with high rankings in various offensive categories from 2019 to 2022, the Chargers’ decision to block the interview raises questions unless they plan to mandate the inclusion of specific assistant coaches from their current staff in the new head coach’s lineup.

Moore’s past stints with both the Cowboys and the Chargers add an interesting layer to the coaching dynamics, given the differences in offensive performance during his tenures with each team.”
