Why Former Alabama Offensive Tackle Chooses Iowa in Transfer Portal Move…

Former Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor has made the decision to transfer back to his home state by committing to Iowa through the transfer portal.

The announcement was made on his social media, in collaboration with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. Proctor, a 6-foot-7, 360-pound player, had previously committed to the Hawkeyes during his recruitment but later switched to the Crimson Tide.

Despite facing initial challenges during his freshman season, where he vied for the starting left tackle position, Proctor showed improvement over time, earning praise from former Alabama coach Nick Saban. By the end of the season, he secured a spot on the freshman all-SEC team.

Proctor’s return to Iowa comes at a time when the team is in search of an offensive coordinator, following the dismissal of Brian Ferentz after a disappointing 2023 season.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, Brian’s father, has not yet appointed a replacement. Proctor’s decision to transfer was part of a series of moves triggered by Saban’s retirement and the appointment of Kalen DeBoer as Alabama’s new head coach.

Saban’s retirement created a 30-day window for Crimson Tide players to explore opportunities in the transfer portal.
