In the aftermath of the 24-21 defeat, LaFleur acknowledged the profound disappointment, emphasizing that the loss stung deeply given the team’s high expectations. Despite facing unfavorable odds, the Packers, buoyed by their Wild Card victory against the Dallas Cowboys and a four-game winning streak, including three consecutive victories to end the regular season, entered the game with confidence. Controlling the majority of the match through the first three quarters, their inexperience ultimately became evident in the face of the 49ers, who demonstrated why they were favored to win.
Reflecting on the defeat, LaFleur lamented missed opportunities, stating, “Part of the reason it stings so bad is we fully believed and fully expected to win. … Felt like we had plenty of opportunities to put the game out of reach and unfortunately didn’t do enough,” according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.
