Titans’ Terrell Williams to Lead American Team in 75th Reese’s Senior Bowl, Bringing New Coaching Energy

Titans Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach Terrell Williams has been appointed as the head coach of the American team at the upcoming 75th Anniversary Reese’s Senior Bowl. The announcement was made by the Senior Bowl, along with the revelation that New York Jets Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will lead the National team. The Senior Bowl, adopting a “Coach Up” format for the second consecutive year, will take place on February 3, 2024, at Hancock Whitney Stadium, University of South Alabama.

Expressing his excitement, Williams stated, “It’s a great opportunity to help these college players get some exposure into what professional football is all about.” He thanked Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel for the nomination and expressed eagerness to collaborate with fellow coaches and Senior Bowl personnel for a positive experience for the players.

The Titans hold the seventh overall pick, while the Jets possess the tenth selection in the upcoming NFL Draft. The “Coach Up” format involves coordinators and assistant coaches assuming elevated or different roles than their current positions with their respective teams. A selection committee, comprised of league office executives and representatives from the General Managers Advisory Committee, finalized the coaching staff.

Former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel commended Williams, emphasizing his loyalty, dedication, and service to the Titans program over the last six years. Vrabel highlighted Williams’ impact on player development and coaching creativity, expressing confidence in his abilities as the head coach for the Senior Bowl.

In addition to the head coach appointments, coordinators for the American and National squads were also named:

American:
– Offensive Coordinator: Troy Brown (New England Patriots Wide Receivers Coach)
– Defensive Coordinator: Ephraim Banda (Cleveland Browns Defensive Backs Coach)
– Special Teams Coordinator: Mike Adams (New York Giants Assistant Special Teams Coach)

National:
– Offensive Coordinator: Shea Tierney (New York Giants Quarterbacks Coach)
– Defensive Coordinator: Daronte Jones (Minnesota Vikings Pass Game Coord/Defensive Backs Coach)
– Special Teams Coordinator: Phil Galiano (New Orleans Saints Assistant Special Teams Coach)

Jim Nagy, Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl, expressed excitement about having Ulbrich and Williams as head coaches, praising their reputations as effective communicators and motivators. Nagy highlighted Ulbrich’s energy and previous coaching experience in the Senior Bowl, as well as Williams’ impressive connection with players during his tenure at Purdue.
