Seahawks Embark on Coaching Search: New Leader to Report to GM Amidst Transition…

Seahawks’ Coaching Search in Full Swing; New Hire to Report to GM…

Following the announcement that Pete Carroll would step down as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks after 14 seasons, John Schneider, his longtime partner, expressed the need to move forward.

In his first meeting with reporters since the decision, Schneider acknowledged the emotional nature of the transition and the historic success they achieved together. Despite the end of this partnership, Schneider anticipates continued communication with Carroll in his new advisory role.

Schneider, now leading the search for a new head coach, reminisced about the past and humorously mentioned that he was ready for a head coaching search in 2010, only to find out the franchise had already chosen Carroll.

The structural change entails the new head coach and their staff reporting directly to Schneider, a departure from the previous arrangement where Carroll reported to owner Jody Allen.

While the team has not finalized its approach to considering college candidates, Schneider emphasized that the coaching staff’s selection is not solely Allen’s decision but is influenced by contractual considerations.

The Seahawks have reached out to at least eight candidates for interviews, including Ejiro Evero, Patrick Graham, Ben Johnson, Mike Kafka, Raheem Morris, Dan Quinn, Bobby Slowik, and Frank Smith.

Schneider highlighted Allen’s clear vision for the next head coach, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the positive culture and foundation established within the organization.

As the search continues, Schneider expressed gratitude for the interest in the position and the opportunity to convey the incredible foundation and special people within the Seahawks organization to potential candidates.
