Carlisle United Issues Firm Statement for Unacceptable Fan Abuse Towards Connor Ripley…

CLUB: Strong Condemnation of Abuse Towards Connor Ripley

We express our regret

It has come to our attention that offensive remarks were directed at Port Vale’s goalkeeper, Connor Ripley, by an individual in the Warwick Road End during the second half of yesterday’s match.

We sincerely apologize to both Connor and Port Vale.

The disparaging comments he endured were entirely inappropriate, and we vehemently denounce them.

The individual responsible for these comments does not reflect the values of our fan base or the principles we uphold as a club. Such remarks bring embarrassment and shame to all of us. We extend our apologies to Connor and Port Vale.

We are actively collaborating with law enforcement to identify the person responsible and will take decisive action. Anyone with information is urged to contact the club promptly at [email protected] or reach out to Cumbria Police.

CEO Nigel Clibbens commented: “I was informed of this incident tonight. I instructed Paul Simpson to provide me with Connor’s contact information so I could speak with him immediately.

“I spoke to him earlier tonight and offered a personal apology on behalf of the club. Understandably, he was still upset and angry. No player should endure such abuse, and we sincerely regret that he experienced it.

“He provided details about the incident, indicating that it was a prolonged episode of abuse. I emphasized our intolerance for such behavior and assured him that we would take appropriate measures.

“We are committed to identifying the individual responsible and taking the strongest possible action. We urge those in close proximity who may know the culprit to come forward with information, as they have done in the past.

“While positive developments have been observed in the atmosphere at the Warwick Road End, there have been recurring incidents of disorder and now abuse. This is exceptionally disappointing. We appeal to our fans to cease such behavior and act responsibly. This cannot be allowed to persist.”
