Carlisle United Boss Laments Over a Devastating Injury Setback Ahead of a New Year…

Carlisle United’s striker JJ Kayode has encountered a setback in his recovery from injury, as revealed by manager Paul Simpson. Kayode, who is on loan from Rotherham United, has been nursing a shoulder injury sustained in September.

Simpson provided an update on the situation, expressing disappointment over the setback, estimating another 10 days to two weeks before Kayode can return to action.

Despite this setback, there is a potential boost for Carlisle United with the possible return of club captain Paul Huntington for their upcoming New Year’s Day match against Port Vale at Brunton Park. Simpson acknowledged the challenges faced by the team due to injuries but emphasized the need for patience and persistence.

Simpson also discussed the overall fitness of the squad following their recent defeat against Wigan Athletic, part of a demanding fixture schedule. He mentioned some players dealing with bumps and bruises, including Sam Lavelle with a bloodied nose from a challenge with Charlie Wyke.

Additionally, Mox (not specified further) had some complaints, possibly related to tiredness and wounded pride. Despite these challenges, Simpson emphasized the team’s determination to regroup, recover, and approach upcoming matches with resilience.
