“Disappointing” – Why Max Verstappen Faces High-Speed Holiday Snub From Mercedes…

Max Verstappen faced a disappointing rejection from Mercedes during his holiday when attempting to rent a high-performance car.

Despite being a Formula One world champion accustomed to racing at extreme speeds, the 26-year-old Dutch racer was denied access to a Mercedes with a top speed of 313km/h due to age restrictions.

Sixt, the car rental company, cited their insurance policy, which prohibits individuals under 30 from driving such high-performance vehicles.

Consequently, Verstappen had to settle for a less powerful BMW 5 Series during his trip to Portugal with family and friends. Despite the setback, the group had booked around 20 cars from Sixt at Faro Airport and rented the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve racing circuit for two days.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Verstappen, known for his impressive F1 career and three consecutive championships, adhered to the rules and opted for an alternative premium vehicle. His manager, Raymond Vermeulen, eventually drove the Mercedes.

Despite the temporary setback, Sixt expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging Verstappen’s driving skills and experience with powerful cars.

This incident adds to Verstappen’s eventful year, which saw him earning $80 million and gaining recognition as one of the most accomplished F1 drivers.
