Why Max Verstappen Blocked from Driving Mercedes AMG GT on Portuguese Racing Escapade…

Max Verstappen, the renowned speedster dominating Formula 1 in his Red Bull racing car, faced an unexpected obstacle during his holiday in Portugal. Despite routinely pushing his Red Bull F1 car to over 200mph on the racetrack, the 26-year-old Dutch racing sensation found himself unable to drive a Mercedes AMG GT, capable of speeds up to 195mph.

The twist in the plot occurred at Faro Airport, where Verstappen and his group had reportedly secured an impressive fleet of approximately 20 cars from Sixt. However, the much-anticipated joyride encountered a setback. According to The Sun, the chosen vehicle, a Mercedes AMG GT, was off-limits due to an insurance policy stipulation enforced by Sixt.

The insurance policy explicitly stated that individuals under the age of 30 were ineligible to drive the powerful AMG GT. This effectively put a halt to Verstappen’s plans to navigate the renowned Autodromo Internacional do Algarve racing circuit in style.

Despite being the undisputed king of speed, Verstappen found himself unable to circumvent the restrictions imposed by the insurance protocol. A source informed The Sun, “Max and the group went to Portugal for a fun racing trip and had booked the cars they wanted. When they got to the airport, Max was shocked when he was told he wasn’t allowed to drive the Mercedes he wanted. He’s a seasoned F1 driver who’s used to handling powerful cars, so it’s quite astonishing to think he wasn’t allowed to get behind the wheel of this one — but those are the rules, so he abided by them.”
