Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde expressed remorse for the team’s prevailing sense of emptiness following their recent narrow defeat.
Despite a spirited effort in the game against the New Jersey Devils, where they couldn’t capitalize on the momentum generated by a thrilling 7-6 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers the night before, the Red Wings fell short in a 3-2 loss.
Heading into the third period with a 2-1 lead, courtesy of goals by Patrick Kane and Shayne Gostisbehere, the Red Wings seemed poised for success.
