Injury Woes: Browns Face Kicking Conundrum as Veteran Kicker Exits Game with Hamstring Issue

Dustin Hopkins has suffered a hamstring injury during the Browns’ game against the Texans, raising concerns about his ability to continue playing.

The veteran kicker sustained the injury while attempting to prevent a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Dameon Pierce.

Hopkins, seen favoring his hamstring on the sideline, is now marked as “questionable” for the remainder of the game, with his helmet off after a stint in the medical tent.

In response to Hopkins’ injury, the Browns chose to go for two-point conversions instead of attempting extra points and opted for a pass to the end zone at the end of the first half rather than a short field goal.

These strategic decisions hint at doubts regarding Hopkins’ return to the field. In the absence of their starting kicker, the Browns may need to rely on alternative options to maintain their lead against the Texans and impact Houston’s playoff aspirations.

The identity of the Browns’ emergency kicker remains uncertain. Punter Corey Bojorquez handled the only kickoff after Hopkins’ departure, suggesting he might be the preferred choice for the role.

However, given Bojorquez’s lack of experience in regular-season field goal or extra point attempts, the Browns might lean towards fourth-down attempts and continued two-point conversion tries for the remainder of the game on Sunday.
