League Two Side Issues Clarify Regarding Claims Involving Carlisle United New Boy…

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has confirmed that Wrexham did not make a renewed attempt to sign striker Luke Armstrong, who has now been sold to League One club Carlisle United for an undisclosed fee ahead of the January transfer window.

Armstrong, 27, was initially set to join Wrexham on September 1st, but the deal fell through. According to Weaver, there has been no communication from Wrexham since the end of the last transfer window. Weaver stated in a report by the Harrogate Advertiser, “We’ve not heard from Wrexham recently… clubs’ priorities change from window to window in terms of the positions they need to recruit for, and a centre-forward might not have been as high up on their list.”

Despite reported interest from MK Dons earlier in the year, Carlisle United emerged as the successful suitor for Armstrong.

Wrexham, in the meantime, opted to sign Steven Fletcher on a free transfer in September to strengthen their attacking options. The club has the opportunity to make additional signings in the upcoming month.

Armstrong, who joined Harrogate in 2021 and scored 31 goals in 116 games, is now eager to showcase his abilities in League One. His new team, Carlisle United, currently sits 21st in the table, three points from safety. They will face Cheltenham Town in a home fixture this weekend under the management of Paul Simpson. Carlisle United recently drew 2-2 against Northampton Town in their previous match.
