Shortly after the final whistle, Walsall manager Mat Sadler expressed his joy at the team’s return to winning form on Saturday.
The Saddlers defied expectations and secured three crucial points against promotion hopefuls Notts County. Despite Aden Baldwin giving Notts County the lead in the first half, Oisin McEntee’s two goals in the second half led Walsall to their third away victory of the 2023/24 League Two season.
Having faced increasing pressure in recent weeks due to a six-game winless streak in the league and a disappointing FA Cup performance against Alfreton Town, Sadler addressed the media, emphasizing his satisfaction with the team’s performance. He stated, “I am pleased that the lads did what they did for them, for us, and for the supporters.” Despite the challenging period, Sadler remained optimistic about the squad’s capabilities and emphasized his belief that results would improve.
Looking ahead, Walsall is set to face Alfreton Town in a FA Cup Second Round replay on Tuesday. With the momentum from Saturday’s victory, Sadler hopes to see his team progress to the Third Round, where they would potentially face Southampton.
