Ravens’ OBJ looking to ‘return the favor’ in Rams reunion…

The most recent encounter between the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams hinged on the final moments, highlighted by Odell Beckham Jr.’s memorable outstretched arm.

In January 2022, while playing for the Rams, Beckham seized a seven-yard pass from Matthew Stafford with only 57 seconds left on the clock, scoring the game-winning touchdown by extending the ball over the pylon. This pivotal play secured a 20-19 victory for the Rams in Baltimore and marked a crucial step in their journey to clinch a Super Bowl title.

Looking ahead to the upcoming reunion with the Rams at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, scheduled for 1 p.m. on FOX, Beckham expressed his desire to replicate that decisive moment: “Hopefully, I can do the same thing and return the favor to them.”

Beckham’s stint with the Rams in 2021, encompassing the postseason, holds significant meaning for him as a turning point in his career. Following trades from the New York Giants and being waived by the Cleveland Browns within a two-year span, Beckham experienced a resurgence in Los Angeles.

In 12 games with the Rams, including the playoffs, Beckham reclaimed his status as a playmaker, contributing 48 catches for 593 yards and seven touchdowns. His impactful performances played a crucial role in the Rams’ championship season, culminating in him scoring the first touchdown in the Super Bowl, albeit leaving the game with a left knee injury in the second quarter.

This week, Beckham lightened the atmosphere by playfully mentioning engaging in some trash talk with his former teammates through a group chat.

After sitting out the previous season to fully recover from a knee injury, Beckham faced challenges with ankle and hamstring issues, leading to a slow start. The first eight weeks saw him without a touchdown, amassing 14 receptions for 162 yards.

However, Beckham is currently finding his stride. In the last four games, he has scored two touchdowns and achieved Baltimore’s sole 100-yard receiving game of the season.

Much like he did for the Rams, Beckham is injecting a late-season spark for the Ravens, aiming to contribute to another championship run. Recognizing his impact, the Ravens have designated Beckham as one of their three captains for the upcoming game.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh emphasized Beckham’s resurgence, noting his improved health, strength, and speed, highlighting the explosive element in his recent performances. Harbaugh expressed confidence in Beckham making significant plays in the remaining stretch of the season.
