Paul Simpson Provides Team Update On Squad Struggles Ahead of Blackpool Clash…

Manager Paul Simpson discussed the team’s ongoing challenges with player availability in anticipation of their upcoming match against Blackpool.

Providing an injury update, he mentioned that Jack Ellis had returned to training, albeit only on his first day back, making him unavailable for the upcoming match. Simpson highlighted the importance of ensuring players fully recover before returning to play, citing past instances where early returns led to further injuries.

The manager outlined the status of several players, stating that Hunts, Taylor, and JJ Kayode were still a week away from joining training, with Kayode scheduled to consult a specialist for the next phase of his recovery. Callum is set to undergo surgery next week, marking the beginning of a nine-month recovery period. Simpson assured that the team is supporting Callum through this process.

Joe Garner, who sustained an injury in the game against Reading, has recovered well from stitches below his knee. Despite the setback, Garner has completed physical training and rejoined full team sessions. Simpson praised Garner’s resilience and determination.

Other players in rehabilitation include Terry and Jokull, with updates on their progress. Fin is expected to return in late January or early February, pending further assessment. Jack Armer, previously thought to be suspended, is, in fact, available for the upcoming game.

Despite the team’s limited squad with only 16 outfield players and two goalkeepers, Simpson emphasized the need to deliver a strong performance against Blackpool.
