Week 13 Highlights

The Cowboys secured victory in a high-scoring matchup against the Seahawks on Thursday night, earning an eighth-ranked team offense grade of 73.5, while the Seahawks closely followed with a grade of 73.0.

The Chargers faced a sluggish offensive performance against the 2-10 Patriots, finishing 22nd in team offense grade at 59.6, just two spots above the Patriots at 57.3.

The Bengals triumphed over the Jaguars in an overtime shootout, with backup quarterback Jake Browning exhibiting effective short passes. Despite a low average depth of target, Browning managed 9.6 yards per attempt, contributing to the Bengals’ fourth-ranked team offense grade (77.4) and fifth-ranked expected points added (EPA) per play (0.234).

Standout Risers: Houston Texans & Green Bay Packers

The Texans, with a 7-5 record and one game behind in the AFC South race, have seen quarterback C.J. Stroud earn an impressive 84.6 PFF grade, the ninth-highest in the NFL. Despite the setback of an injury to emerging wide receiver Tank Dell, players like Noah Brown have stepped up.

Since Week 9, Packers quarterback Jordan Love ranks fourth in PFF passing grade (90.3) and has recorded 13 big-time throws, the third-highest at his position.

Notable Fall: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers, entering Sunday’s game as 5.5-point favorites at home, faced a setback against the Cardinals, impacting their playoff chances. The loss, coupled with Kenny Pickett’s injury, contributed to their decline in the rankings.

Injury Impact

Key offensive injuries include Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson, Texans receiver Tank Dell, Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr., Browns receiver Amari Cooper, Rams receiver Puka Nacua, tight end Tyler Higbee, Dolphins tackle Terron Armstead, Lions center Frank Ragnow, and Cardinals receiver Marquise Brown.

Defensive injuries feature Broncos defensive back Patrick Surtain II, Falcons defensive back A.J. Terrell, Steelers edge defender T.J. Watt and linebacker Elandon Roberts, Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker, and Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons.

Game Insights

The Cowboys-Seahawks game saw no punts, with both teams boasting high conversion rates. The Bengals-Jaguars game, despite six combined punts, showcased top-10 drive success rates on offense.

Despite punting eight times, the Falcons secured a win over the Jets. The Buccaneers, Chargers, and Panthers also punted eight times in the week.

Late-Game Performers

The Packers upset the Chiefs by excelling offensively throughout the game, with a higher offensive success rate (75%) in the second half. The Chiefs’ defense earned its lowest grade of the season at 47.1.

The Saints staged a valiant comeback in the second half, leading in play conversions with a rate of 44.7%.

Trench Battles

The Saints’ offensive line faced pressure on 61.3% of their snaps, the highest in Week 13, with a pass-blocking grade of 58.2.

The Titans’ offensive line allowed four sacks but led with an 89.9 run-blocking grade. Titans’ backs gained 94 rushing yards before contact, surpassing other teams.

The Cowboys’ defensive line, led by Micah Parsons, earned the highest grade at 92.1 and prevented any sacks against the Seahawks.

The Commanders’ defensive line struggled with a 29.8 PFF grade and pressured Tua Tagovailoa on just 16.0% of his dropbacks.

Defensive Challenges

The Eagles and Browns had subpar defensive performances in Week 13, with completion rates above 75.0% and the Eagles allowing four touchdowns in coverage.

The Cowboys allowed 334 yards in coverage, their highest for the season.

Despite a challenging defensive season, the Bengals earned their best team defense grade (70.9) against the Jaguars in Week 13.

Offensive Consistency

Despite recent success, the Broncos have the second-highest three-and-out rate in the NFL. A high three-and-out rate, coupled with quarterback Russell Wilson’s three interceptions in Week 13, poses challenges for the team’s overall performance.
