Texans Coach Has Issued ‘Instinctive’ Statement Regarding Opponent’s Coach Ahead of Week 14 Showdown…

Texans Coach Ryans Expresses Appreciation for Jets Coach Saleh Ahead of Week 14 Matchup…

With a promising 7-5 record after just 12 games under the new administration, Houston Texans fans are optimistic about the team’s future. While credit is given to general manager Nick Caserio for hiring head coach DeMeco Ryans, fans should also acknowledge the role played by New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh. Saleh, previously the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, left for New York, paving the way for Ryans to take over. As the 49ers thrived, Ryans found himself in the spotlight during head coaching interviews, leading to his current position. Ahead of their Week 14 clash when Houston faces New York, Ryans shared his thoughts on Saleh and the profound impact he had on his coaching journey.

Expressing deep respect for Saleh and his contributions, Ryans stated, “I have a ton of respect for Saleh and what he’s done. I learned the ropes of coaching under Saleh, gaining insights into schemes, player management, and game planning. I owe a lot to him; that’s probably why I’m standing here before you, as he took me under his wing and taught me so much.” Despite Saleh orchestrating one of the league’s top defenses, ranking second in success rate, the Jets’ season has been plagued by offensive injuries and inconsistent quarterback play, resulting in a 4-8 record. While they may seem like a potential trap game for the Texans, the Jets have a knack for keeping matches close and challenging even elite quarterbacks. For Ryans, facing Saleh holds extra significance, given their mentor-mentee relationship.

Reflecting on Saleh and former linebackers coach Jonny Holland, Ryans emphasized their role in solidifying his commitment to coaching. “They ensured I was fully committed to coaching, understanding the dedication and time it requires. Saleh and Johnny Holland provided invaluable advice, and I learned a great deal from both of them. I’m grateful for their advocacy with Kyle [Shanahan], persuading him to give me an opportunity.”

Despite Ryans’ gratitude, he remains focused on the upcoming contest, recognizing the Jets as a formidable opponent. The 4-8 Jets pose a challenge for Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud, and the outcome of the game could significantly impact the Texans’ standing in the tightly contested AFC Wild Card race. While the matchup may not be high-scoring, fans can anticipate a respectful exchange at midfield once the game concludes. Regardless of the outcome, Ryans has validated both himself and his former coach, Saleh.
