Wolves Player’s Situation Raises Concerns – Club Expresses Worry Over Limited Playing Time

During the summer transfer window, Gonçalo Guedes’ loan spell with Benfica and Wolverhampton Wanderers was extended, with the anticipation that his recovery from previous injuries would grant him more opportunities on the field. However, despite high expectations for his full return, the reality has been quite different, with his playing time continuously being delayed. As we enter December, Guedes has only accumulated 162 minutes of play.

A recent report from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã sheds light on the peculiar nature of Guedes’ situation, stating that it is ‘causing strangeness’ at Benfica. The club’s staff finds it perplexing that the Wolves loanee is consistently utilized only towards the end of games, creating an air of mystery around his actual physical condition.

Notably, Guedes was omitted from the squad for the Champions League match against Inter Milan last week and played for a mere two minutes in the recent encounter against Moreirense. This utilization pattern is raising concerns at Wolves, especially considering the limited playing time, as it may pose challenges in negotiating his exit, should it be linked to an injury issue. Guedes is contracted with the Molineux side until 2027, further adding to the club’s apprehension.
