Boost for Colchester United as Defensive Duo edges closer to playing return…

Colchester United’s defender Al-Amin Kazeem is making strides in his recovery from an ankle injury, bringing positive news for the team. After being sidelined for two and a half months, the 21-year-old wing-back is back on the training ground at Florence Park.

Currently limited to running exercises without ball work, Kazeem’s return is imminent, and it’s reassuring that he won’t require ankle surgery. This development is particularly welcomed by manager Matty Etherington, who is also anticipating the return of left-sided defender Ellis Iandolo in the coming weeks.

The article emphasizes that the conservative rehabilitation approach has been successful, allowing Kazeem to resume training on the grass. Having made 11 appearances in league and cup competitions this season, Kazeem, an attack-minded full-back, initially debuted for Colchester United in August 2022 and has accumulated 35 first-team appearances for the club.

In addition to Kazeem’s progress, the team is hopeful that winger Owura Edwards will return to grass-based training by the end of the month. Edwards, who suffered a knee injury during the U’s 2-1 home defeat to Harrogate Town on October 21, is on the recovery path.

He had only recently returned from a three-month absence due to an ankle injury. The 22-year-old is expected to discard his knee brace soon, and the team plans to integrate bike conditioning sessions and dynamic exercises for his rehabilitation. If all goes well, Edwards could be back on the grass for conditioning work within the next two to three weeks.
