Jack Campbell Suffers A Heart Melting Challenge In Stars Defeat…

Despite Jack Campbell allowing four goals, the Condors emerged victorious against the Stars, seeking redemption from their previous shootout loss.

Saturday night’s rematch held significant importance for both the team and Campbell, who was eager to prove himself for a potential recall to the Oilers.

The Condors, having lost the previous game despite being the better team, aimed to secure a win and did so with a 6-4 triumph at Mechanics Bank Arena.

Despite the challenging night for Campbell, who allowed four goals, the Condors showcased a strong performance. The goaltender faced his former AHL team but may not have strengthened his case for an Oilers recall with his performance.

The game set its tone early when Campbell, the 11th overall draft pick in 2010, conceded the first goal just 36 seconds into the match. However, the Condors responded, tying the game at 1-1 in the first period with Lane Pederson’s power-play goal.

The second period witnessed a goal frenzy, with five goals scored. Cameron Wright, Ben Gleason, and Xavier Bourgault contributed to the Condors’ lead, but the Stars remained competitive, narrowing the gap to 5-4 by the end of the period.

The final period saw some breathing space for the Condors as Bourgault scored to make it 5-3. Although the Stars fought back and made it 5-4, Wright sealed the victory with his second goal, securing a 6-4 win for the Condors.

Pederson, with two goals, earned the game’s First Star, while Wright, with a double, received the Third Star. Drake Caggiula, with three assists, was awarded the Second Star for his consecutive three-point performances.

Campbell faced 35 shots, making 31 saves, and played a crucial role in the Condors’ penalty kill, preventing the Stars from scoring on two power-play opportunities.

The Condors’ recent performances have boosted their confidence, securing five out of a possible six points in their last three games. Coach Colin Chaulk emphasized the team’s consistent effort and expressed satisfaction with the points earned.

The Condors improved to 7-7-1 on the season, climbing to eighth in the Pacific Division. Their next challenge awaits as they travel to Ontario to face the Reign on Friday night.
