Starting RB Announces Sudden Return to Pittsburgh Panthers

The primary running back for the Pitt Panthers is set to make a return for another season.

The team will have the privilege of having one of their key offensive contributors, Rodney Hammond, back on the field carrying the ball in the upcoming season.

Rodney Hammond recently took to Twitter to announce his decision to return to school in 2024, utilizing his final year of eligibility to continue playing for the Panthers.

Despite sharing rushing duties with C’Bo Flemister as the season progressed, Hammond, who consistently held the starting tailback position throughout the season, showcased his skills by rushing for 547 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed in the passing game with eight receptions for 60 yards.

Although Hammond faced a reduction in touches due to the shared workload, he concluded the season on a high note. In the final home game against Boston College, he achieved a career-high performance with 145 yards and a touchdown.

In another positive development for the Panthers, the team will also welcome back starting tight end Gavin Bartholomew for the upcoming season.
