Sadler Provides Updates On Walsall’s Patient Approach With Former Newport County Stopper…

Walsall is carefully managing the integration of summer signing Priestley Farquharson into the team, according to an update from Mat Sadler.

The defender, who joined from Newport County, has had a disrupted start to his Walsall career, making only four appearances and being sidelined since a foot injury in September.

Sadler acknowledges the need to handle Farquharson’s return cautiously, emphasizing the importance of managing his playing time and expectations.

Despite the player being back in training, Sadler remains cautious, stating that decisions on when and where to reintroduce him are pending.

Jack Earing, the midfielder recovering from a long-term knee setback, is also nearing a return. Having completed two weeks of full contact training, Earing is now seeking match minutes to regain match fitness.

Sadler expressed the need to find him a game, indicating that once Earing accumulates playing time, he will be in contention for selection. Earing, who signed a new short-term deal in the summer, looks set to extend his stay at Walsall into a third season.

The international break has provided a welcome respite for Walsall, allowing the team to bring things closer together in terms of player fitness and injuries. Sadler appreciates the time off, mentioning the positive impact on the treatment room.

With players returning from the break and the team regaining fitness, Sadler looks forward to the upcoming matches and expresses a need for a scouting mission.
