“Piatak Era” – How A Large Crowd Anticipates New Horizons at Carlisle United…

An enthusiastic gathering is set to mark the commencement of a new chapter as the Blues face Charlton at Brunton Park this Saturday.

Tom Piatak, an American entrepreneur, along with his family, has assumed control of the club, sparking dreams of an exhilarating future for everyone involved.

The Piataks expressed their interest in the Blues back in February and demonstrated commendable determination to finalize the deal, securing a 90 percent shareholding in the club.

CUOSC has been actively pursuing a change in ownership, and the takeover, coupled with promised new investments, is seen as a positive development for the Blues.

Expressing gratitude to its members for endorsing the resolution to reduce the shareholding to ten percent and facilitate the deal, CUOSC also acknowledges the efforts of Billy Atkinson, their representative on the Holdings Board. Despite numerous challenges during the negotiation months, Atkinson remained composed and patient.

As negotiations progressed, Atkinson received valuable support from CUOSC Chairman Matt Spooner, 1921 board representative Nigel Davidson, and Deputy Carol Wilson. The rest of the board also stood ready to assist in any way possible.

Despite the reduction in shareholding, CUOSC aims to maintain a constructive relationship with the new owners and believes it can continue to make a positive impact. However, as the primary representative of supporters, CUOSC emphasizes the importance of staying relevant.

One strategy to achieve this is by increasing membership. A higher membership count translates to greater influence and more financial support for the club.

Currently boasting 1,154 members, CUOSC’s objective is to surpass the 2,000 mark and beyond. The CUOSC board is in a state of continual evolution, with eight members vying for the four available positions on the ten-strong board.

The candidates, including Nigel Davidson and Carol Wilson seeking re-election, are Mike Denovellis, Gerard Gornall, Richard Mullen, Ross Parkinson, Martin Robson, and Claire Winder.

Voting commences this weekend, with the results slated for announcement at the Annual General Meeting on Sunday, December 3, at Foxy’s Restaurant from 1 pm (doors open at 12:30 pm). The meeting will be accessible via streaming.

Membership costs £10 for adults and £5 for seniors and under-18s for a one-year term. Interested individuals can sign up on the CUOSC website at www.cuosc.org.uk.
