Red Sox Intensifies Pursuit for Phillies First Baseman as Key Offensive Addition for 2024 Season…

The Red Sox may be eyeing a surprise addition to their roster this offseason, with speculations linking them to a power hitter from the Phillies.

While Justin Turner made a mark in 2023 for Boston, he seems poised to move on, leaving the team in search of another right-handed bat for the lineup.

With financial resources available, the Red Sox are in a position to enhance their roster, and one player gaining attention as a potential option is Rhys Hoskins from the Philadelphia Phillies, as reported by Christopher Smith of MassLive.com.

Hoskins, at 30 years old, boasts impressive statistics from the 2022 season, placing in the 75th percentile or higher in various performance metrics according to Baseball Savant.

Smith suggests that Hoskins could fill a role similar to what Justin Turner did for the Red Sox in 2023. Serving as the designated hitter and occasionally playing first base against left-handed starters, Hoskins could offer versatility and firepower to the lineup.

Despite missing the 2023 season due to injury, Hoskins’ track record includes consistently hitting at least 27 home runs and driving in a minimum of 71 runs over his last four full seasons, excluding the shortened 2020 campaign.

Considering his potential and the fact that he is returning from injury, Hoskins could be an attractive and cost-effective option for the Red Sox. This, in turn, might allow the team to allocate additional funds towards strengthening their starting rotation.
